Graffiti is not a crime
Ricardo Cadena Becerra was a young Mexican graffiti writer from San Pedro Choula. Said Donkins, a Mexican street artist, has informed us that he has been killed by a policeman May 3rd. Apparently,
the Attorney General of the State (PGJE) reported that the investigations into the killing of Ricardo Cadena Becerra, early Sunday 3 May in San Pedro Cholula, make it clear that the young man did not perform graffiti and was killed with a shot in the neck when he was subjected on the floor.
The policeman who killed Ricardo Cadena Becerra, Jaid Mothe Hernández, was the subdirector de la Comisaría Municipal de San Pedro Cholula. He has been charged for murder.
Rexiste, an urban art collective, is now asking for justice, organizing strikes in the street, and has prepared a petition, that you can sign here. In their opinion, this murder is directly linked with a new antigraffiti law, which allows policemen to use the force and to shoot against graffiti writers.
